Kohat:In a heartbreaking incident in Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, relentless rainfall caused floodwaters to inundate a family home, resulting in the tragic drowning of 11 individuals, including women and children. According to reports from Express News, the floodwaters entered the basement of a house in Dera Adam Khel Old Bazaar area, trapping members of the Amjad family. Upon receiving the alert, Rescue 1122 teams swiftly responded, rescuing 11 individuals and transporting them to hospitals. Initially, one child was reported missing but was later found.
Governor Faisal Karim of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa expressed deep sorrow over the loss of all 11 members of a single family. Additionally, the region has been experiencing continuous heavy rainfall for the past three days, causing widespread flooding in Peshawar, Swabi, and surrounding areas. This has led to water accumulation on roads and low-lying areas, presenting a challenging situation for residents.
Furthermore, in Swabi, the torrential rains have caused significant damage to crops such as tobacco and maize, while multiple feeder trips in Pesco have resulted in widespread power outages across many areas. In another incident in Swabi, the roof of a livestock shelter belonging to Habibullah collapsed, trapping two buffaloes underneath. Rescue 1122 teams promptly responded to rescue the animals upon receiving the distress call from Topi police station in Kotla Gaon near Topy Thana.
The situation remains dire as authorities continue to manage the aftermath of the devastating floods and provide support to affected communities.
