Traffic Accidents in Balochistan Lead to 402 Deaths and 30,596 Injuries in 2024: MERC Report
Bela:In 2024, Balochistan witnessed a significant number of traffic accidents, with a total of 22,252 incidents recorded across the province, leading to 402 fatalities and 30,596 injuries. The annual report from the Medical Emergency Response Center (MERC) Balochistan 1122, covering the period from January 1 to December 31, 2024, highlights the alarming statistics.
The report notes that traffic accidents occurred in various districts of Balochistan, including Quetta, Panjgur, Khuzdar, Pishin, Loralai, and several others, especially along highways. In these accidents, 403 lives were tragically lost, and thousands more were injured. Additionally, 6,033 patients received treatment at outpatient departments (OPD) across the province.
MERC volunteers played a critical role in rescue operations, providing timely assistance to the injured and saving many lives. The report emphasized that, just like in other parts of the country, MERC Balochistan’s volunteers were actively involved in saving lives and serving humanity during emergencies.
Public circles have expressed their appreciation for the dedication and selfless efforts of MERC volunteers. They have also urged the provincial government to provide the volunteers with necessary benefits and facilities in recognition of their exemplary performance, to further enhance the quality of emergency response services in the province.
