Traders Reject Increase in Petroleum Prices
Islamabad: The traders’ community has rejected the recent hike in petroleum prices. The central body, Traders Association of Pakistan, criticized the government for burdening the public instead of reducing its expenditures.
President of the organization, Kashif Chaudhry, stated that obtaining daily bread has become difficult for the people, and yet an increase in petroleum prices will unleash a new wave of inflation across the country.
He highlighted that due to the current prices of electricity and gas, the cost of production has skyrocketed to unsustainable levels, making it impossible to continue businesses.
It should be noted that the government, following the increase in electricity rates, has raised the prices of petroleum products by up to Rs. 9.99 per liter. Accordingly, the price of petrol has been raised by Rs. 9.99 per liter, while high-speed diesel has seen an increase of Rs. 6.18 per liter. The new prices came into effect last night at 12 o’clock and will remain enforced for the next 15 days.
