Three Killed, Including Two Policemen, in Terrorist Attack on Checkpoint

Peshawar:A terrorist attack on a police checkpoint near Charwazgai in District Khyber resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including two police officers.

According to District Police Officer (DPO) Saleem Abbas, the attack occurred on the Pakistan-Afghanistan Highway near the Landi Kotal Bazaar checkpoint. The terrorists launched a sudden assault, killing Assistant Sub-Inspector Alam Zeb and a passerby.

The DPO reported that in addition to the fatalities, two policemen and one passerby sustained severe injuries. Later, another officer, Sher Alam, succumbed to his injuries, bringing the total number of martyrs to three.

The DPO noted that upon receiving news of the attack, a large police contingent rushed to the scene, but the terrorists managed to flee. Security across the district has been heightened as a result.

In the meantime, the injured, including the police personnel, were initially taken to the Landi Kotal Hospital and were subsequently transferred in critical condition to the Peshawar Hayatabad Medical Complex.

The checkpoint was established on the Pakistan-Afghanistan Highway, about 3 kilometers from the Landi Kotal Bazaar.
