Quetta:Dr. Manzoor Baloch, head of the Baloch Unity Committee, led thousands in a rally-turned-sit-in within Quetta’s Red Zone, demanding the safe return of Zaher Baloch and other missing individuals. The demonstration included a significant presence of women and citizens, along with families of forcibly disappeared persons like Zaher Baloch.
Participants stressed that their protest was peaceful and aimed solely at securing the release of Zaher Baloch. They vehemently denied any involvement in violent incidents, including recent attacks on police vehicles, attributing such actions to conspiratorial elements attempting to discredit their peaceful movement.
Bibi Baloch, a participant in the sit-in, reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to non-violent protest, emphasizing that their actions had not caused harm to government property or inconvenience to the public. She asserted that their peaceful sit-in would continue until Zaher Baloch is safely returned.
Earlier, four individuals suspected of instigating violence were apprehended and removed from the protest site, highlighting efforts to maintain order and prevent provocations aimed at destabilizing the situation.
Currently, negotiations led by Dr. Manzoor Baloch are ongoing with a committee at the Chief Minister’s House, where representatives of Zaher Baloch’s family are also present. The talks aim to facilitate the safe return of Zaher Baloch and resolve the grievances of his family and supporters.
