Gwadar:Thousands of people gathered in Gwadar to participate in the Baloch Rally organized under the umbrella of the Baloch Unity Committee. The rally took place on Peddar Road, Marine Drive, attracting participants from across Balochistan, including internal regions and cities like Koh-e-Sulaiman, Nasirabad, and Karachi, Sindh.
The event, held on July 28, saw significant turnout from men and women alike, underscoring widespread support for the Baloch cause. However, the peaceful gathering was marred by incidents of violence. Security forces reportedly opened fire on demonstrators at Talar Checkpost and Zero Point, obstructing caravans arriving from Karachi and Nushki for the rally. Mobile services were suspended across the Makran Division, and internet access was cut off at crucial points along the Makran Coastal Highway and CPEC routes.
During the confrontation, police used tear gas to disperse crowds gathered at Marine Drive, resulting in multiple injuries. Asghar, a young man, tragically lost his life due to apparent gunfire from security forces, while four women and a child were among the severely wounded, all of whom were rushed to Gawadar’s Civil Hospital for treatment. Initial reports from the hospital indicate critical conditions for ten-year-old Qambar Osman, Muhammad Hussain son of Ali Nawaz from Khuzdar, Rashed son of Muhammad Yousaf from Naal, Muhammad Ibrahim son of Haji Kareem, Jumma Khan son of Muhammad Azam from Panjgur, and Muhammad Akbar son of Bilal from Mashkay, who were all provided with preliminary medical care before being transferred to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center in Karachi.
