Terrorist Attack on Security Forces Checkpost in Bannu: 12 Soldiers Martyred, 6 Militants Killed

Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: A terrorist attack on a security forces checkpost in the Maliy Khel area of Bannu district was thwarted on November 19. During the exchange of fire, 12 Pakistani soldiers were martyred while 6 militants were killed. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), militants attempted to infiltrate the joint checkpost but were repelled by security forces. In retaliation, the attackers rammed a bomb-laden vehicle into the post, causing a self-detonation that damaged a section of the wall and surrounding infrastructure. The martyred soldiers included 10 Pakistan Army personnel and two Frontier Constabulary (FC) troops.
ISPR confirmed that an ongoing clearance operation is underway in the area. The attack, described as heinous, will not go unpunished, and authorities remain committed to eradicating terrorism. President Asif Ali Zardari expressed condolences over the martyrdom of the soldiers and praised their sacrifice for the nation. Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the attack, calling the fallen soldiers heroes of the nation whose sacrifices would never be forgotten.
