Quetta:A heated exchange took place between Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Ali Madad Jattak during a session of the Balochistan Assembly, which has since gone viral on social media and news websites.
The confrontation erupted when Maulana Fazlur Rehman, leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) and Ali Madad Jattak, leader of the People’s Party, clashed over issues related to the conduct of protests and recent incidents involving law enforcement.
During the exchange, Maulana Fazlur Rehman criticized the police’s handling of protests on Siryab Road, alleging mistreatment of protesting women and his own family members. He emphasized the right to peaceful protest and condemned the use of force.
In response, Ali Madad Jattak defended his stance, asserting unity among Baloch, Pashtun, and Pakistani communities, while expressing concerns over recent incidents affecting his party’s activities and memorial images of martyrs being torn.
The session intensified as both leaders exchanged sharp remarks, prompting the Speaker to call for order and security intervention. Maulana Fazlur Rehman later walked out of the assembly in protest.
The incident underscores growing tensions and divergent views within the provincial assembly, highlighting challenges in maintaining political decorum amid sensitive issues.
