Tejashwi Yadav Calls for India to Send Cricket Team to Pakistan for Champions Trophy

Islamabad :Tejashwi Yadav, the son of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and a prominent Indian politician, has called on the Indian government to send its cricket team to Pakistan for the upcoming Champions Trophy. He questioned why politics should be involved in sports and suggested that if Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi can travel to Lahore for biryani, there should be no issue with sending the cricket team to Pakistan.

According to Indian media reports, Tejashwi Yadav argued that it is inappropriate to mix politics with sports. He stated, *”In the Olympics, don’t all nations compete against each other? So why can’t the Indian cricket team travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy?”*

Yadav further emphasized his point by drawing a comparison with Modi’s visit to Lahore, saying, *”If Modi can go to Lahore to have biryani, then what’s the problem with sending the cricket team?”*

The Champions Trophy is scheduled to be hosted by Pakistan, and according to ICC rules, the tournament’s schedule must be announced 100 days in advance. However, due to India’s reluctance, the schedule for the tournament has not been released yet, even though only 90 days remain.

Tejashwi Yadav’s comments highlight ongoing tensions between the two neighboring countries regarding sports diplomacy, and his stance advocates for separating politics from athletic events. His remarks come at a time when the future of the Champions Trophy remains uncertain due to the diplomatic standoff.
