Teacher Abducted and Forced into Marriage in Bihar

Bihar: An Unusual Incident of Forced Marriage Shocks Local Community
In a bizarre and shocking incident, a school teacher in Bihar was abducted by a girl’s family and forced into marriage. The incident occurred in the Begusarai district of Bihar, where the teacher, Avinash Kumar, who had recently passed the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) exam and secured a government school teaching job, was kidnapped while on his way to school on Friday.
According to reports, two vehicles intercepted Avinash’s electric rickshaw, and nearly a dozen armed men got out and abducted him at gunpoint. Within a few hours, Avinash was reportedly beaten up and forced into a marriage with a girl, allegedly named Ganjan, who claimed she had been in a relationship with him for the past four years.
Ganjan’s family allegedly orchestrated the abduction. She accused Avinash of having promised to marry her but reneging on the promise after securing his government job. She stated that when she informed her family about their relationship and sought to marry him, Avinash refused, which she found unacceptable.
The reports suggest that just three days before the incident, Ganjan’s family had seen Avinash and Ganjan together and began plotting to abduct him. After the abduction, Avinash was taken to a temple, where a forced wedding ceremony was held.
A viral video from the incident shows Avinash being held by several individuals while Ganjan is seen in bridal attire. Following the forced marriage, Ganjan went to Avinash’s house, but his family refused to accept her as the bride, leading to tensions. Avinash allegedly managed to escape from the scene.
Ganjan has filed a police complaint, demanding justice, while Avinash has denied all allegations. He has stated that he had no relationship with Ganjan and that she had repeatedly harassed him by calling and stalking him. Avinash claims he was abducted, beaten, and coerced into performing marriage rituals under duress.
