Taimur Talpur Says New Canals are a Dream of PML-N That Will Not Be Fulfilled

Umerkot:Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and Sindh Assembly member, Taimur Talpur, has stated that the proposal to extract new canals from the Indus River is a dream of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), which will not be realized. Speaking to the media in Umerkot, Talpur emphasized that if the government proceeds with the project, PPP would overthrow the government within 24 hours.

He further added that the government does not possess enough power to implement canal projects against the wishes of the PPP. Talpur accused certain political and religious parties of using the canal issue as a political tool in the upcoming by-elections.

On the other hand, on World Water Day, laborers and farmers’ organizations held a protest rally in Hyderabad against the plan to extract six new canals from the Indus River. Protests were also held in Mirpur Khas, Badin, Nawabshah, Dadu, Umerkot, and Padidan.
