Taimur Jhagra Raises Questions on KP Government and Party’s Internal Accountability

In a time when PTI leadership denies any factionalism within the party, former provincial minister of PTI, Taimur Jhagra, has raised concerns about the provincial government’s actions. Jhagra, a senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, questioned the accountability process under the leadership of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), highlighting discrepancies regarding the Chief Minister’s assets and spending.

Taimur Jhagra stated that the Chief Minister of KP has declared assets worth approximately 10 crore rupees and claimed to have spent 75 crore rupees on the party in a year. He expressed his surprise that the PTI’s internal accountability committee is not investigating these claims. Jhagra questioned why the accountability committee is not addressing the Chief Minister’s financial activities.

Further, he revealed that the founder of PTI had asked the Chief Minister to include him in the KP cabinet. However, the Chief Minister allegedly suggested that his clearance would be sought from the party’s internal accountability committee, a move Jhagra found concerning. He also accused the Chief Minister of repeatedly raising issues of alleged corruption against him, making it difficult for him to clear his name.

Taimur Jhagra is currently facing allegations of embezzling 36 billion rupees, and PTI’s internal accountability committee has demanded an explanation from him regarding this claim. In response, Jhagra has submitted a written response to the committee’s questionnaire, expressing his lack of trust in the process, claiming the committee’s actions are politically motivated and biased.

Jhagra emphasized that he has no desire to rejoin the provincial cabinet and stated that he would present his response to PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar and the central general secretary.

He also raised serious questions regarding the provincial government’s handling of several important matters. Jhagra inquired why, despite the instructions of PTI’s founder, no inquiry has been conducted into the May 9th incidents, election rigging allegations, and the distribution of free flour. He expressed his dissatisfaction with the government’s failure to address these critical issues.
