Survey Reveals Majority of Pakistani Youth Want to Stay in the Country
Islamabad (Qudrat Daily) — A recent survey conducted in the country reveals that the majority of young Pakistanis are not willing to leave the country permanently. According to the “Upsos Pakistan” survey, most of the youth want to stay in Pakistan and contribute to the nation’s development.
The survey findings show that 74% of young people expressed a desire to stay in Pakistan and play their part in the country’s progress. On the other hand, 26% of respondents stated they might consider leaving the country in search of better opportunities.
Among the youth who were open to leaving Pakistan, 30% expressed a preference for Saudi Arabia, 20% wished to move to Dubai, 9% to the United Kingdom, 8% to Canada, the United States, and 5% to Europe.
The survey also indicated that the desire to emigrate was more prevalent among young people from Islamabad and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. From Islamabad, 46% of youth expressed interest in leaving the country, while 35% from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also showed similar inclinations.
Furthermore, the survey highlighted a significant difference in the desire to migrate between different socio-economic groups. Among the privileged class, 36% of young people indicated a willingness to leave the country, while the figure was lower for the working or underprivileged class, where only 23% expressed the same desire.
This survey counters earlier claims that the majority of Pakistan’s youth are disillusioned and actively seeking to leave the country. Instead, it suggests that most young Pakistanis remain committed to staying in the country and contributing to its growth, despite challenges.
