Quetta:There has been a rapid increase in dog bite incidents in the provincial capital of Quetta, resulting in over 40 affected individuals being admitted to Civil Hospital. Areas such as Nawankali, Bhosa Mandi, Pashtunabad, and Sariab have reported cases of people injured due to dog attacks.
According to hospital sources, there is currently a shortage of rabies injections available at the hospital. Concerned citizens and victims have expressed frustration over the unavailability of timely treatment. Some victims, who have been writing to the Deputy Commissioner’s office for the past two months seeking the necessary injections, have yet to receive them. It has been discovered that these critical rabies injections, essential for post-dog bite treatment, are being sold in the black market instead of being readily accessible in medical facilities.
Authorities have been urged to address the shortage promptly to prevent further health risks to the public.
