Supreme Court Takes Notice of Pressure on 41 PTI MNAs to Resign, Says Omar Ayub
Islamabad: Leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have raised concerns over alleged coercion forcing 41 MNAs to leave the party, prompting the Supreme Court to take notice of the issue.
Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, Omar Ayub, accompanied by other PTI leaders, expressed dismay over the treatment of their assembly members, attributing the situation to pressures from unidentified agencies supposedly acting under the guise of anti-corruption measures.
“Our MNAs have been targeted and our colleagues ostracized,” Ayub remarked, highlighting their pledge of inclusion in PTI being used against them. He called for immediate elections as the ultimate solution amidst efforts by prominent parties and the military to confront PTI openly. Asad Qaiser added his voice, urging the Supreme Court to intervene against what he termed as coercion tactics targeting their 41 MNAs, pledging nationwide protests on August 5 to mark a year since PTI’s founding members were detained.
