**Islamabad:** The Supreme Court has annulled the Lahore High Court’s decision regarding the consolidation of multiple FIRs registered against Fawad Chaudhry in relation to the events of May 9. The case has been sent back to the Lahore High Court for a fresh hearing.

A two-member bench of the Supreme Court, consisting of Justice Hashim Kakar and Justice Ali Baqar Najafi, heard the case. During the proceedings, the court remarked that the Lahore High Court had failed to provide reasonable justifications for dismissing Fawad Chaudhry’s petition, which is legally required.

Justice Hashim Kakar emphasized that there should be a distinction between a judicial order and a royal decree, adding that court decisions must always be based on reasoning. He further stated that it is not acceptable to register 500 cases for a single incident and instructed that the matter should be reheard by the lower court with a formal speaking order.

Justice Ali Baqar Najafi pointed out that the Lahore High Court’s failure to provide reasons for rejecting the petition was a significant legal flaw.

During the hearing, Fawad Chaudhry argued that the Supreme Court had directed the trial courts to decide on the May 9 cases within four months. However, due to the court’s orders, the case has become a prolonged ordeal in the trial court. In response, Justice Hashim Kakar assured Fawad Chaudhry, saying, “We are relieving you from this ordeal.”

Following the Supreme Court’s ruling, the Lahore High Court will now reconsider Fawad Chaudhry’s petition, providing detailed reasons for its decision in the coming hearings.
