Supreme Court Decides to Hear Super Tax Case on a Daily Basis

The Supreme Court’s constitutional bench has decided to hear the case regarding the imposition of the super tax on a daily basis. Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan stated that the hearing would begin on April 15, 2025, and will continue without any adjournments. If any cases have been incorrectly transferred from high courts, the list will be submitted, and those cases will be sent back.
A five-member constitutional bench of the Supreme Court, led by Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan, held a hearing regarding the implementation of the super tax. During the proceedings, lawyer Shehzad Ata Ilahi informed the court that several cases related to the super tax had been transferred to the Supreme Court from the Lahore High Court, including those unrelated to the tax issue.
Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan remarked that if any cases were wrongly transferred from the high courts, they should submit a list, and the cases would be sent back. The hearings will begin on a daily basis starting from April 15, and no further adjournments will be allowed. However, the hearing was later adjourned until April 15 due to the unavailability of senior lawyer Makhdoom Ali Khan.
**Supreme Court to Hear Petition Against 25th Constitutional Amendment**
In a related development, the Supreme Court’s constitutional bench decided to schedule a hearing for the petition challenging the 25th Constitutional Amendment. In this case, lawyer Wasim Sajjad requested the bench to set a fixed date for the hearing. Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan replied that cases were now being fixed regularly.
Lawyer Wasim Sajjad further stated that they had challenged the 25th Constitutional Amendment in the Supreme Court, and after significant effort, the case was finally listed for hearing. Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan assured that cases were being fixed on a regular basis. Additional Attorney General Aamir Rehman also requested time to submit a response. Consequently, the hearing for this case was adjourned for two weeks.
