Sunil Gavaskar Names Pakistan as Favorite for ICC Champions Trophy

Islamabad:Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has declared Pakistan as the favorite for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, which is set to begin on February 19 in Pakistan. India, on the other hand, will play all its matches in the UAE.
Speaking in an interview, Gavaskar emphasized that playing on home soil would give Pakistan a significant advantage in the tournament. He stated that it is always challenging for any team to defeat the host nation in their own country.
Gavaskar also praised India’s outstanding performance in the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, where the Indian team won 10 consecutive matches before losing in the final.
The ICC Champions Trophy will feature 8 teams divided into two groups. Group A consists of Pakistan, India, New Zealand, and Bangladesh, while Group B includes Afghanistan, South Africa, England, and Australia.
Host nation Pakistan will begin the tournament on February 19 in Karachi, facing New Zealand. One of the most anticipated matches, between Pakistan and India, is scheduled for February 23 in Dubai.
