Islamabad: The price of sugar at Utility Stores has been reduced by Rs 13 per kilogram. According to a notification, the new price of sugar at Utility Stores is now Rs 140 per kg, down from the previous rate of Rs 153 per kg.
The notification states that the cost of sugar, which was Rs 152.50 per kg, has now dropped to Rs 139.50 per kg. Utility Stores had requested sugar mills to lower prices, and in response, sugar mill owners agreed to provide a Rs 17 per kg rebate on the sugar sold to the stores.
After receiving the rebate from the sugar mills, Utility Stores passed on the benefit to consumers, reducing sugar prices. Utility Stores had previously purchased 12,000 metric tons of sugar at the lower price.
