Lahore – A sudden and severe rise in the water level of River Jhelum, entering Chakothi from Uri through Hattian Bala in Indian-occupied Kashmir, has triggered panic among residents living along the riverbanks.
According to reports, the unexpected surge in the river’s water level occurred without any prior warning, causing chaos and fear among the local population. Originating from the Anantnag district, the River Jhelum witnessed a dramatic rise as it flowed into Chakothi, leading to concerns of possible flooding in nearby areas.
Residents have expressed alarm at the lack of advance notice, which has heightened the sense of danger and uncertainty. Authorities have yet to issue a formal response or provide evacuation guidance as the situation develops.
