Panjgur: Students of University of Makran issued a press release highlighting continued deprivation of fundamental facilities despite four years having passed since its establishment. They expressed concerns over retaliatory actions threatened when pressing for their rights. The university administration is urged to rectify its course, failing which students intend to seek redressal through public courts in Panjgur.
Students further stated that while administrative appointments and decisions are made daily, essential student issues remain neglected without means of resolution. Despite repeated notifications and formal requests, the administration has shown reluctance in addressing these issues seriously.
Recently, students held a press conference to draw attention to their plight, hoping for prioritized resolutions based on merit. Unfortunately, instead of cooperation, several students received show-cause notices and faced baseless accusations in a frivolous statement issued by the university, which employed inappropriate language. This non-serious and childish response from the current university administration indicates their lack of seriousness towards student welfare.
Students emphasized that the university administration’s subsequent actions post-press conference included intimidating students through various means to silence their voices. They noted that the administration resorted to issuing show-cause notices to many students without any prior notification, resulting in their exclusion from academic activities without legitimate cause.
In view of these circumstances, it appears evident that the university administration has failed miserably in resolving student issues, disregarding the importance of education and campus life. Students highlighted their distress over the lack of basic amenities such as cold water during this intense summer season, which has added to their difficulties.
Through this press release, students invite members of Panjgur civil society, district administration, and all concerned citizens to visit the university and witness firsthand the realities faced by students. They urged everyone to decide for themselves whether the students are genuinely demanding their rights or if the university administration is merely displaying incompetence.
Students concluded by cautioning the university administration to immediately retract their baseless accusations and rescind the show-cause notices, resolving the issues promptly. They warned of taking rigorous measures if their legitimate demands are not addressed swiftly, holding the entire responsibility on the University of Makran administration.
