Students Demand Immediate Reopening of Bolan Medical College and Hostels, Threaten Protest
Quetta:In a grand meeting held at Bolan Medical College (BMC), student organizations from across Balochistan have demanded the immediate reopening of the college and its hostels, which have been closed due to security concerns. The meeting was a joint effort by various student groups, including the Baloch Students Action Committee, Baloch Students Organization, Pashtun Students Federation, and Baloch Students Organization-Pujar, along with a large number of medical students and representatives from other BMC organizations.
The students voiced their strong opposition to the militarization of Bolan Medical College and the deployment of police forces on campus, which they argue has created an environment of fear and disruption. They also criticized the closure of student hostels, which has forced many students to face hardships, particularly those from outlying areas.
The participants in the grand meeting unanimously called on the provincial government and authorities to reopen the college and hostels without further delay. They issued a stern warning that if their demands are not met, they would begin a sit-in protest in front of Bolan Medical College starting tomorrow.
The student leaders emphasized that their struggle was not just about the reopening of the college, but also about restoring the autonomy and academic freedom of students in the face of increasing military presence on campuses. The protest is seen as a critical point in the ongoing tensions between student organizations and the provincial administration over the handling of security and student welfare at Bolan Medical College.
