Strict Action Against Citizens Wasting Water, Heavy Fines Imposed in Rawalpindi
Rawalpindi: The administration in Rawalpindi has introduced stringent penalties to curb water wastage, including fines for both residential and commercial users who wash vehicles, floors, or homes using pipes.
According to a report by Sama News, the move comes in response to growing concerns about the area’s dwindling water resources.
The government’s notification specifies that violators will face fines ranging from PKR 10,000 to PKR 20,000, depending on the nature of their water connection. Residential users will be fined PKR 10,000 for a first-time violation, while commercial establishments will face a fine of PKR 20,000.
Authorities have warned that repeat offenders will face more severe penalties, including disconnection of their water supply. The purpose of these measures is to enforce the law and deter habitual violators.
This decision is part of a broader initiative to address the ongoing water crisis and promote responsible water usage. Excessive use of fresh water for activities such as washing vehicles or cleaning large areas with hoses is being identified as a significant cause of wastage. Citizens are being encouraged to use buckets instead of hoses to conserve water.
By implementing these measures, Rawalpindi aims to set an example for other cities grappling with water shortages. The administration has appealed to the public for full cooperation, emphasizing that water conservation is not only crucial for current needs but also for future generations. The government believes that those who adhere to these regulations will play a vital role in solving the crisis and ensuring a sustainable water supply in the future.
