Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq to Request PM for Formation of Committee for PTI Negotiations
Islamabad:Speaker of the National Assembly, Ayaz Sadiq, will request Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for the formation of a committee to initiate talks with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). PTI has urged the Speaker, as the “Custodian of the House,” to play a role in facilitating these negotiations.
According to close sources of the Speaker, PTI leaders have formally requested Ayaz Sadiq to take on the responsibility of facilitating the talks. However, Speaker Sadiq has clarified that it is not within his authority to establish such a committee directly. Instead, he will request the Prime Minister to consider the proposal for the formation of the committee.
Ayaz Sadiq emphasized that he would approach the Prime Minister only when instructed by PTI leadership. Speaking to Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Reform (PTR) Barrister Gohar, Sadiq stated that he would not offer a commitment unless a decision was made, and that his role would be limited to requesting the Prime Minister to consider the proposal once a formal request was made.
The Speaker has said that he would ask the Prime Minister to listen to his statement, following PTI’s request for a committee to be formed for negotiations.
