Sindh Government Plans to Launch Bullet Train from Karachi to Sukkur: Sharjeel Memon
Karachi: Sindh’s Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, announced that the provincial government plans to operate a bullet train between Karachi and Sukkur. He emphasized that the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) remains a top priority for the government, aiming to improve transportation in the region.
In an exclusive statement to the media, Memon highlighted that Sindh has attracted the highest amount of foreign investment in the country. He added that the Chief Minister of Sindh recently held a meeting with foreign investors, further strengthening the province’s economic ties. Notably, an investment of over one billion dollars is expected in the medical sector alone.
Memon also mentioned the establishment of the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone, where 50,000 local jobs are expected to be created. This zone will also see significant foreign investment. “Providing employment to our youth is our foremost priority,” said the minister, adding that foreign investors have regained confidence in the Sindh government.
Regarding energy, Memon highlighted that the cheapest electricity in the country is being generated from coal in Tharparkar, ensuring a sustainable energy future. He also noted that the provincial government has encouraged foreign companies to set up bus manufacturing plants in Karachi, which will create employment opportunities and provide affordable transportation options for the city.
In his comments on national politics, Memon criticized Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, accusing him of undermining the country’s progress and working according to foreign agendas. He alleged that Khan’s calls for civil disobedience and his role in promoting illicit financial practices had been detrimental to Pakistan’s development.
