Gandakha:Sardar Faisal Khan Jamali, Provincial Minister for Health of Balochistan, accompanied by Sindh’s Irrigation Minister Jam Khan Shoro, visited the Sukkur Barrage to address severe water shortages affecting Balochistan’s share in the Kirthar Canal. During the visit, Chief Engineer Mansoor Memon briefed them on the water supply situation for Balochistan’s rightful portions.
Minister Faisal Khan Jamali emphasized the urgent need to resolve agricultural challenges posed by the recent scarcity, highlighting that timely action is imperative. He urged the Sindh government to ensure consistent water supply to Balochistan’s borders instead of limiting it to the jurisdiction of Khanpur, enhancing prospects for irrigation across vast swathes of Balochistan.
Present at the occasion were Sardar Muhammad Haroon Khan Jamali, Mir Nooriz Khan Jamali, Mir Zulfiqar Khan Jamali, Nawabzada Salar Khan Jamali, and Khair Bakhsh Lashari, leaders of the landowners’ association. Minister Jam Khan Shoro assured them and other representatives that Balochistan’s entitled water allocation would be facilitated, with third-party monitoring to ensure transparency.
“We acknowledge the hardships faced by farmers and landowners due to the current shortage of irrigation water in Kirthar Canal. However, the Sindh government is committed to addressing the issues of our Balochistani brethren by implementing effective measures,” Minister Jam Khan Shoro affirmed.
