Shoaib Malik Responds to Critics Over His Salary, Defends Role as Mentor

A video of former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik has gone viral on social media, in which he responds to critics who have questioned his monthly salary of 50 lakh rupees. In the video, Malik advises cricketers and journalists to do their homework before making comments.

Malik explained that those criticizing his earnings of 50 lakh rupees per month should know that he was earning much more even before accepting the mentorship role. He further stated that if anyone requires proof of this, he is willing to provide it.

The former captain emphasized that he and the team had come together for the betterment of Pakistan cricket and were aware of the real issues. He added that he plays cricket globally and has not just played in his own country. “If the world has called me to play cricket, there must be something in me,” he said.

Shoaib Malik clarified that their main goal is to improve the national cricket team, and he assured that they were working on the reports they had provided to improve the situation.

This comes after Pakistan’s early exit from the ICC Champions Trophy, during which Shoaib Malik had severely criticized the national team. He had also sung the Bollywood song *Dil Ke Armaan Ansooon Mein Beh Gaye* on TV, which led to heavy criticism from former cricketers.

Former Test cricketer Sikander Bakht criticized PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, addressing him by saying, “The person you are paying 50 lakh rupees a month was mocking you on TV.” He further stated that Shoaib Malik, who is on the PCB’s payroll, was making fun of Pakistan cricket by singing a song.

Former cricketer and analyst Basit Ali also commented on Shoaib Malik’s song, suggesting that the PCB should take action regarding his behavior.

It’s worth noting that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had decided to pay five mentors a monthly salary of 50 lakh rupees and an annual salary of 6 crore rupees. This is a record amount for domestic cricket. Waqar Younis, Misbah-ul-Haq, Shoaib Malik, Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Saqlain Mushtaq will be available for a three-year contract and will also work as advisors.
