Shibli Faraz Condemns Brutal Treatment of PTI Supporters in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Claims 12 Shot Dead
Peshawar: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shibli Faraz has expressed shock and condemnation over the violent treatment of party workers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, claiming that 12 of their supporters were killed in a recent incident. Speaking at a press conference alongside Khyber Pakhtunkhwa spokesperson Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif, Faraz said, “We never expected that our welcome would be with bullets.”
He further stated that efforts were underway to collect full details of the casualties, mentioning that the tragic incident involved the death of 12 individuals from PTI’s ranks. “We were hoping for justice in Peshawar High Court, but what we received was gunfire,” he added.
The PTI leader criticized the government’s actions, stating that the party was being treated unfairly. “We are being subjected to such treatment as if we are not citizens of Pakistan. Our only fault is that we are from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This attitude benefits those who do not want the welfare of the country,” Faraz said.
He also condemned the label of “terrorists” being applied to educated PTI supporters, saying that the peaceful citizens of Pakistan should not have to sacrifice their lives. “How can a country progress if its citizens are not safe? We have been branded as terrorists, and the real culprits have been allowed to escape identification,” Faraz emphasized.
The incident highlights the growing political tensions in the region and the increasing violence faced by PTI members, especially in the aftermath of the party’s leadership crisis and clashes with the ruling government.
