Shakila Naveed Dewar Condemns Police Brutality on Missing Persons’ Families and Arrests of Political Activists

Quetta:Shakila Naveed Dewar, the central women’s secretary of the Balochistan National Party (BNP) and former member of the Balochistan Assembly, has strongly condemned the police brutality on the families of missing persons at Civil Hospital Quetta and the arrests of political activists across the province. She described these actions as despicable and stated that the unrepresentative government cannot thwart the national struggle for rights through force.

In her statement, Shakila Naveed Dewar emphasized that the Baloch nation does not have a mentality of subjugation, and state oppression will only strengthen their struggle. She specifically condemned the forced disappearances of BNP leader Nasser Qambarani and other members of his family, the vice-principal of Bolan Medical College Elias Baloch, human rights activist Saeeda Baloch, active leader of the Baloch Unity Committee Beberg Baloch, Dr. Hamal Baloch, and several other political activists across the province.

She stated that the government’s policy of enforced disappearances and conspiracies cannot force the Baloch nation to abandon its peaceful democratic struggle. She added that the ongoing unconstitutional actions in Balochistan cannot hide the violations of human rights, nor can they subdue the Baloch nation. The Baloch, she said, do not have a mindset of slavery.

Shakila Dewar criticized the government for dreaming of eradicating the Baloch people under the intoxication of power. She reminded them that over the past seven decades, political activists have endured hardships in jails, faced severe oppression, and sacrificed their lives, but they have never backed down. She stressed that until the ongoing atrocities against the Baloch people are stopped, the missing persons are released, and the Baloch people’s access to their resources and national rights is recognized, the situation in Balochistan will never improve.
