Shahid Afridi Admits to Inquiring About Shaheen Shah Afridi’s Character Before Marriage Proposal

KARACHI:Former Pakistan cricket team captain Shahid Afridi has revealed that he conducted a thorough inquiry into the character of fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi before agreeing to the marriage proposal. Shahid Afridi made this admission during his participation in the *International Urdu Conference* in Karachi, where he responded to various questions from the media.

Shahid Afridi explained that although both his family and Shaheen’s family were familiar with each other, he still felt the need to ensure that Shaheen was a suitable match for his daughter. He said, “Shaheen’s coaches and the cricketers who played with him in Under-19 and later levels spoke very highly of him. After receiving positive feedback, I made the decision to accept him as a son-in-law.”

The cricket legend also addressed rumors about his alleged romantic involvement with Indian actress Sonali Bendre. When asked about the rumors, Shahid Afridi jokingly replied, “Now, I am a grandfather,” laughing off the speculation. He further added, “I won’t consider myself a grandfather until my fifth daughter also has children.”
