Severe Water Shortage in Kohlu Town: Residents Appeal for Immediate Action

Kohlu:Residents of various areas in Kohlu Town, including Mir Hazar Wadh, Killi Sardar Feroz Khan Zarkon, Killi Malik Hashim, New Killi, and Mari Colony, have been facing an acute water shortage for the past month. According to reports, they have been struggling to access even a drop of water, and local authorities appear to be unaware or indifferent to the issue.

When contacted, the Executive Engineer (XEN) of the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department and the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) seemed unaware of the ongoing water crisis in the affected areas. In response to inquiries, the XEN suggested that a “wallman” (local caretaker) might have more knowledge about the situation, while the SDO appeared completely detached from the matter.

The new XEN, recently appointed to the PHE Department, has not yet familiarized himself with the regions under his responsibility, and the SDO also seems disconnected from the department’s operations. This has resulted in ongoing water shortages, leaving the residents helpless.

In light of the prolonged crisis, the residents of Kohlu Town have urgently appealed to the Deputy Commissioner, Akhil Ahmed Baloch, to take immediate action. They have requested that the authorities investigate the negligence of PHE officials and ensure the provision of water to the affected areas on an emergency basis. The locals are hoping for swift intervention to address the growing concerns of water scarcity.
