Severe Flooding in Balochistan Alters Province’s Landscape, 11 Dead Since July 20
Quetta: Severe rainfall and flooding in Balochistan have dramatically altered the province’s landscape, with at least 11 people, including 7 children, losing their lives in various incidents since July 20.
The torrential rains and floods have wreaked havoc, submerging numerous villages and destroying crops. Areas such as Ziarat, Jhal Magsi, Sohbatpur, and Sibi are inundated with water, and rivers and streams are in a state of overflow.
In Qalat, Khuzdar, Lasbela, and other regions, lightning strikes and floodwaters have led to the deaths of 11 individuals, with 8 others injured, including 7 children. According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), 15 houses have been completely destroyed, 34 partially damaged, and 343 people have been displaced. Additionally, 82 livestock have perished.
The PDMA reports that 62 acres of crops have been ruined, 5 bridges have collapsed, and 12 kilometers of roads have been affected. The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall in most districts of Balochistan until August 12.
