Serious Allegations of Corruption Against Agricultural Engineering Department in Kohlu
Kohlu:Serious allegations of corruption and mismanagement have been leveled against the Agricultural Engineering Department in Kohlu, with claims that it has been failing to provide farmers with irrigation water and is involved in fraudulent practices that have led to millions of rupees being embezzled from the national treasury.
Farmers have accused the department of not delivering irrigation water as promised, causing their lands to become barren. They further allege that the department has been submitting fake fuel receipts from petroleum pumps in Quetta to claim over 30,000 liters of fuel every two months, which is being misappropriated for personal gains. These fraudulent practices are allegedly siphoning off public funds while the agricultural sector suffers due to the lack of proper resources and support.
Farmers report that despite repeated requests for water supply, the department has failed to take any action. Instead of providing the promised hours of irrigation, officials are said to be utilizing fake receipts to steal funds, further exacerbating the crisis in the agricultural sector and eroding public trust in the system.
In light of these serious allegations, farmers have called on the provincial government of Balochistan and Member of the Provincial Assembly, Nawab Jangez Khan Mari, to take immediate notice of the issue. They have demanded a transparent investigation into the financial dealings of the Agricultural Engineering Department and strict legal action against officials involved in the embezzlement. The farmers have urged the authorities to ensure the timely and proper supply of irrigation water to prevent further damage to their crops and lands.
