Senator Samina Mumtaz Zehri Calls for Immediate Attention to Balochistan’s Security and Socio-Economic Issues

Quetta:Senator Samina Mumtaz Zehri of the Balochistan Awami Party has emphasized the urgent need for attention to Balochistan’s security and socio-economic challenges in a statement posted on the social media platform X. She raised concerns about the potential access of the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) to satellite connections, which she described as a serious security threat. This development, she said, highlights the need for stronger security measures to prevent the misuse of such technologies.

While acknowledging the benefits of technological advancements, Senator Zehri stressed that national security must always remain the top priority. She further pointed out that the social and economic issues driving instability cannot be ignored. The lack of job opportunities and development, she noted, creates fertile ground for extremism, with some individuals feeling that supporting militant groups is their only option.

In her role as a senator, she called on the government to prioritize the needs of the people of Balochistan over personal interests. She highlighted the importance of increasing employment opportunities, implementing targeted development initiatives, and addressing the legitimate grievances of the Baloch population in order to combat extremism and ensure a peaceful future for the province.

Senator Zehri concluded by urging the government to adopt a comprehensive strategy that addresses both security concerns and the root causes of instability in Balochistan.
