SENATOR JAN MOHAMMAD BILADI CALLS NEW CANAL PROJECT A CONSPIRACY AGAINST SINDH AND BALOCHISTAN

Quetta:Senior National Party leader and Senator Jan Mohammad Biladi has termed the project to extract six additional canals from the Indus River as a conspiracy against Sindh and Balochistan. Speaking in the Senate, Biladi stressed that ignoring the concerns of federal units could severely damage the federation. He emphasized that the water issue is not just a problem for Sindh and Balochistan, but a national issue that must be addressed at the federal level.

Biladi asserted that if the federal government attempts to divide Sindh’s water share, it would be unacceptable and he described the project as a conspiracy against the entire country. He further stated that protecting the rights of all provinces in water distribution is crucial, and the federal government must ensure that no province suffers injustice.

He highlighted that the project to further irrigate 60 million acres of land would worsen the water problems for Sindh and Balochistan. He also emphasized that allowing water to flow into the sea is vital for the breeding of fish and maintaining environmental balance.

Senator Biladi recommended that the federal government consider projects like the Hingol Dam in Balochistan to address water issues and irrigate the province’s agricultural lands. He pointed out that Balochistan is currently arid, and if the federal government fails to address water issues in the region, it will have adverse effects on the entire country.

Biladi also supported the Sindh government’s demand to bring this issue to the Council of Common Interests to discuss and resolve the matter. He stated that his party stands with the Sindh government and warned of negative consequences if the project is not halted, adding that the current government would be fully responsible for such outcomes.

He concluded by stressing that water distribution is a national issue, and the federal government must intervene immediately to protect the rights of Sindh and Balochistan and find a solution to this critical problem.
