Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gillani Acquitted in TDAP Corruption Cases by Anti-Corruption Court

Karachi:The Federal Anti-Corruption Court in Karachi has acquitted Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gillani in three cases related to the TDAP corruption scandal. Gillani appeared before the court for the hearing of the case.
During the proceedings, the judge engaged in a conversation with Gillani, asking him if he was aware of the three cases against him. Gillani responded affirmatively, stating, “Yes, I am aware.”
The judge then asked, “Which jail would you prefer to go to — Karachi, Multan, or Islamabad?” Gillani confidently replied, “I am not afraid of jail. Jail is nothing new for me. If you want, you can hang me.” The judge smiled in response to Gillani’s statement.
When asked why he did not prefer ‘house arrest’, Gillani explained, “My ancestral home is in Multan, my family is in Lahore, and my Senate office is in Islamabad.” The judge remarked, “But the court is in Karachi,” to which Gillani humorously replied, “Otherwise, it would be said that my party has a government in Sindh.”
After reviewing the evidence, the judge concluded, “No charges have been proven against you, Mr. Gillani. You are honorably acquitted. The witnesses who testified against you have now become accused themselves.”
After the trial of all three cases, the court acquitted Yousaf Raza Gillani and 40 other accused individuals, clearing them of all charges related to the TDAP corruption scandal.
