Security Cells Established at Federal, Provincial, and District Levels for Protection of Foreign Nationals

Islamabad: In a bid to enhance the security of foreign nationals in Pakistan, dedicated security cells have been established at the federal, provincial, and district levels. A comprehensive security framework has been developed to ensure the safety of foreign citizens across the country, according to official documents.
At the federal level, a National Foreign Security Cell has been created under the Ministry of Interior to coordinate the security efforts. Similarly, provincial foreign security cells have been set up to oversee security at the regional level. Specific cells have also been established in Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, ensuring a comprehensive national approach.
On the local level, District Foreign Security Cells will handle the protection of foreign nationals within their jurisdictions. The framework specifies that various security agencies, including the police, Special Protection Unit (SPU), and Special Security Unit (SSU), will be responsible for providing security to foreigners.
Furthermore, for the protection of high-profile foreign visitors, the military can be called upon if necessary. Government institutions overseeing foreign nationals will also designate focal persons to manage security arrangements.
In addition, the Tourism Department will be responsible for ensuring the safety of tourists and foreign journalists. The department will monitor the security of foreign diplomats, tourists, journalists, students, athletes, and religious pilgrims visiting Pakistan.
