Second Convoy of Relief Goods Reaches Kurram District Amid Ongoing Blockages

Hangu:A second convoy of trucks, loaded with food, medicines, and other essential supplies, has reached the Kurram district from the town of Tall, bringing some relief to the affected areas. This follows a six-day gap since the first convoy was dispatched. The convoy consists of 25 trucks, though 20 vehicles were unable to clear customs and could not proceed to Kurram.
The convoy, carrying vital supplies, has reached Parachinar and is being distributed to various areas, including Bushhera, Ali Zai, Balash Khel Sadda, and others, as confirmed by district administration officials. However, local residents have expressed concerns, stating that the 25 vehicles are insufficient for the large population of Parachinar, which numbers in the millions.
The ongoing blockade in the Kurram district has left the local population facing significant hardships for the past three months. Shortages of daily essentials, including food, medicine, fuel, and gas, have led to widespread distress among the residents. Medical stores and private hospitals have been forced to close due to a lack of essential medicines. In response to the crisis, traders in the region have gone on strike, and protests continue in Lower Kurram’s Mandori area, blocking the Tall to Parachinar main road.
In an effort to ensure the safety of the Tall-Parachinar road, recruitment for additional security personnel has been initiated. According to sources, the recruitment process for the Special Protection Force is expected to be completed by the end of this month.
Moreover, as part of a peace agreement, both tribes in the Lower Kurram area have demolished two of their military positions in the regions of Balash Khel and Khar Keli this past Monday.
