Sarfraz Ahmed Predicts Semi-Finalists for ICC Champions Trophy 2025

Karachi:Former Pakistan cricket team captain Sarfraz Ahmed has made his predictions for the semi-finalists of the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is set to begin on February 19 in Pakistan. The event will see India play its matches in Dubai.
Sarfraz Ahmed, who led Pakistan to victory in the 2017 Champions Trophy, has picked Pakistan, India, Australia, and Afghanistan as the likely semi-final contenders, excluding England, South Africa, and New Zealand from the race.
“If I had to choose four semi-finalists, I would select Pakistan, India, Australia, and Afghanistan,” said Sarfraz. However, he emphasized that no team should be underestimated in the tournament.
Sarfraz acknowledged that Pakistan, as the defending champions, would face the pressure of playing on home soil, with high expectations from fans. He specifically praised Afghanistan, calling them a dangerous team that could play a significant role in the tournament.
While only three players from Pakistan’s 2017 Champions Trophy-winning squad are currently in the team, Sarfraz expressed confidence in Pakistan’s chances of defending their title. He highlighted that the team looks strong, with key players such as Babar Azam still in the lineup.
Sarfraz also lauded Pakistan’s bowling attack, particularly naming Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf as among the best bowlers in the world.
It is also noteworthy that Sarfraz Ahmed has been appointed as the ambassador for the ICC Champions Trophy by the International Cricket Council (ICC). His role as ambassador will contribute to promoting the tournament and strengthening its connection with the fans.
