Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University Faces Severe Financial Crisis, Staff Awaiting Salaries for Three Months

Quetta:Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University (SBK) is grappling with a severe financial crisis, leading to a situation where staff members across its campuses in Khuzdar, Pishin, and Nushki have not received their salaries for the past three months. The financial hardship has left both teaching and non-teaching staff, including support staff, struggling to meet their basic needs. Some employees are facing difficulties even in accessing their bank accounts due to financial constraints.

The campuses in Khuzdar, Pishin, and Nushki are the only higher education institutions available for women in these areas. The ongoing financial crisis threatens not only the future of the students but also affects their families, who depend on the institution for their educational aspirations.

The university administration has appealed to Governor Balochistan, Chief Minister Balochistan, Minister for Education Balochistan, Chairman Public Accounts Committee Asghar Tareen, Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri, MPA Younis Aziz Zehri, Ghulam Dostgir Badini, Agha Shakeel Durrani, and other education-friendly political figures to address the financial issues facing SBK. The appeal also extends to the journalistic community to raise awareness about the university’s predicament and press for action from the authorities.

Immediate measures are needed to resolve the financial crisis, including the prompt payment of salaries to staff across all campuses and a sustainable financial plan to ensure the university’s operational stability. Without intervention, the crisis could damage the institution’s reputation and adversely impact the education of female students in the region. The authorities are urged to act swiftly to preserve this vital higher education institution.
