Sardar Akhtar Mengal Criticizes Exploitation of Balochistan’s Resources, Demands Respect and Control Over Local Resources

Quetta:Sardar Akhtar Mengal, the leader of the Balochistan National Party (BNP), has expressed strong concerns over the exploitation of Balochistan’s resources, stating that the province’s wealth has been plundered, leading to its devastation. In a private TV interview, Mengal stated that significant progress could have been made if political parties had focused on governance rather than power.

He lamented the failure of both political parties and the state institutions, mentioning that while they made efforts to address the issue, the situation remained unchanged. He emphasized that the people of Balochistan are willing to cooperate if the province is treated as an equal part of the country.

“We don’t ask for much, we only seek respect and control over our resources,” Mengal said. He criticized the mismanagement of Balochistan’s wealth, alleging that the exploitation of its resources had led to severe consequences for the region.

Mengal pointed out that despite presenting his demands to the Supreme Court, including six key points that were all in line with the constitution, no one listened to their concerns. He clarified that the demands were not related to separatism but were focused on addressing the injustices faced by Balochistan and holding those responsible accountable.

He further added that their voices were ignored, and their political representatives were sidelined. “Now, the powers lie with the Form 47 holders. We are powerless, and we have raised our hands in surrender,” he concluded.
