Quetta:Sardar Akhtar Mengal, leader of the Balochistan National Party (BNP), has strongly condemned the recent incident of firing on a convoy of the Baloch Unity Committee in Mastung, which resulted in injuries to 14 Baloch youths. The youths, including Baloch women, were en route to participate in a gathering in Gwadar when they were forcefully intercepted and attacked.
Describing the incident as appalling, shameful, and condemnable, Sardar Akhtar Mengal stated that such acts aim not only to suppress the voice of the Baloch and other oppressed communities but also to prevent them from exercising their right to protest peacefully. He emphasized that Baloch women have long been at the forefront of efforts to recover missing Baloch individuals, and their right to assemble and protest cannot be curtailed through the use of force and injustices.
Mengal criticized recent statements by authorities, suggesting they may desire to play a dangerous game of bloodshed in Balochistan. He warned that continued violations of human rights will only exacerbate the crisis in the region, with security forces continuing to be perpetrators of human rights abuses.
The BNP leader reiterated his party’s commitment to democracy, transparency, and progressive ideals, accusing unnamed proponents of democracy and development of once again plunging Balochistan into turmoil.
