Sadness Strikes Safari Park After Death of Elephant Sonia, Companion ‘Malika’ Shows Signs of Grief
Karachi:The sudden death of Sonia, an elephant at Karachi’s Safari Park, has left her companion Malika in a state of distress. According to the animal welfare organization Four Paws, Malika has been exhibiting signs of anger and confusion following the tragic loss of her companion.
Experts revealed that Sonia’s post-mortem examination showed severe bacterial infections, which could have contributed to her death. The deaths of both Sonia and another elephant, Noor Jehan, have been attributed to unsuitable environmental conditions and inadequate care.
In response to the concerning situation, Four Paws has recommended immediate antibiotic treatment and blood tests for both Malika and Madhubala, another elephant at the park. The organization has also assured that they are providing guidance on how to support the grieving elephants during this difficult time. A team of specialists will soon be arriving in Karachi for further examination and assistance.
Speaking to Geo News, Safari Park Director Amjad Zidi claimed that after a recent check-up by Four Paws’ experts, Sonia was said to be in good health. He asserted that Sonia had been well cared for at the park and that there were no signs of her deteriorating health prior to her sudden death.
However, the tragic event has raised serious concerns about the conditions in which these elephants are kept, leading to a call for more stringent care and monitoring practices for animals in captivity.
