Roof Leaks in National Assembly Due to Ongoing Rain in Islamabad

Islamabad: The National Assembly’s roof has begun leaking due to continuous rainfall in Islamabad since last night. The Speaker of the National Assembly, Ayaz Sadiq, has issued an urgent directive to the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to address the issue of roof leakage. To mitigate the situation, buckets have been placed throughout the building to collect the dripping water.
In response to the leakage, the CDA has acted swiftly, applying a chemical sealant to stop the rainwater from entering the building. Sources indicate that the roof joints have been waterproofed to prevent further issues.
The city has been experiencing varying intensities of rain, ranging from light showers to heavy downpours, since last night. Despite the rain, traffic flow on city roads remains unaffected, and traffic continues as usual.
The district administration’s spokesperson stated that teams from the district administration, Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI), and CDA have been actively working on the ground. The staff continues to manage water drainage despite the persistent rainfall. Assistant Commissioners are personally monitoring low-lying areas and drains.
The spokesperson assured that there have been no reports of water accumulation on roads or in any area. Complaints regarding water entering basements have been addressed promptly. Residents are advised to contact emergency services at 16 in case of any urgent situations.
