Quetta:With the arrival of chilly winds and harsh cold weather in Quetta, a large number of citizens have flocked to the city’s *linda bazaars* (second-hand markets) to buy warm clothing and essential items. However, alongside the growing number of shoppers, there has been a noticeable surge in prices for jackets, coats, shoes, socks, and other winter wear.

Many residents have expressed their frustration, saying that due to rising inflation, purchasing new clothes has become unaffordable for them, prompting them to turn to *linda bazaars* for more affordable alternatives. However, even in these markets, the escalating prices are proving to be a challenge. One buyer shared their concerns, stating, “Earlier, *linda bazaars* were a ray of hope for the poor, but now even these markets are flooded with inflation. Jackets and coats have doubled in price, and buying shoes and socks has become difficult.”

Vendors at the *linda bazaars* have explained that the price increase is a result of rising demand and higher costs of imported goods. “We are also in a difficult situation. While customers complain, the cost of goods has also gone up for us,” said one vendor, adding that the supply chain challenges are affecting their pricing.

Key *linda bazaars* in Quetta, such as those on Saryab Road, Subzal Road, and Liaquat Bazaar, have become centers for locals seeking affordable winter clothing. With the cold temperatures intensifying, people are searching for cheaper alternatives to keep warm.

Experts believe that the government should pay attention to this issue and reduce taxes on goods sold in *linda bazaars* to provide some relief to the poor. Additionally, they suggest that special measures should be taken to address the growing winter-related challenges, especially for vulnerable citizens.
