Rawalpindi, Pakistan: Retired Lieutenant Colonel Akbar Hussain has been sentenced to 14 years in prison by a military court for charges of inciting mutiny among military personnel. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the retired officer was convicted under the Pakistan Army Act 1952.
A civilian court found him guilty of the allegations, labeling him as ‘culpable’, and on May 10, 2024, he was handed down a rigorous sentence of 14 years. His rank has also been stripped, effective July 26, 2024.
Earlier, Major (Retired) Adil Farooq Raja and Captain (Retired) Hyder Reza Mehdi were also convicted under the Pakistan Army Act 1952 for inciting mutiny and violations of the Official Secrets Act 1923. They were similarly found culpable by a civilian court, receiving sentences of 14 and 12 years respectively. Their ranks were revoked starting November 21, 2023.
