Report Uncovers Over 100 Substandard Medicines in Karachi

Karachi: A recent report by the Drug Testing Laboratory of Sindh has revealed that over 100 medicines, both local and foreign, are substandard. According to the report, drug inspectors collected multiple samples from the market for testing, and the results showed that these medicines were either counterfeit or of poor quality.

The report highlights that many of the samples tested did not contain the required amount of active ingredients. In a span of two months, the laboratory declared 43 medicines as substandard. Furthermore, 65 different medicines were found to be counterfeit, and 9 medicines were found to contain herbal adulterations.

Alarmingly, life-saving medicines were also included among the substandard products. The report suggests that the licenses of those involved in the sale of such medicines could be revoked to ensure public safety.
