Rana Sanaullah Assures Efforts to Complete PTI Negotiations, Says Nawaz Sharif on Board
Islamabad:Prime Minister’s Advisor on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, has announced that the government is committed to taking negotiations with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to a logical conclusion, adding that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is fully supportive of this process.
In a conversation with a private TV channel, Rana Sanaullah confirmed that efforts to resume talks with PTI, which began earlier, will continue, and that representatives from the allied parties will also be included in the negotiation process. He stated, “We want to take the attempts at negotiations forward. After Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s return from Egypt on Friday, a meeting will be held to form the negotiating committee, where decisions will be made.”
Rana Sanaullah emphasized that Nawaz Sharif is on board with the idea of dialogue with PTI, adding that the government remains open to engaging in talks. He further revealed that negotiations were ongoing even during the night between November 25 and 26, and that individuals were sent to meet PTI Chairman Imran Khan at Adiala Jail. He also clarified that the establishment had never obstructed dialogue efforts.
Addressing the issue of any preconditions, Rana Sanaullah said, “The 190 million-pound case or any other matter should be resolved before talks begin. You cannot make demands or accept them before starting negotiations.”
He also highlighted that all matters should be settled at the negotiation table, with Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, playing a key role in the talks. “We need to end the practice of creating or facilitating cases for political gain, and this can only be achieved through dialogue,” he added.
On the topic of PTI’s calls for civil disobedience, Rana Sanaullah asserted that no tangible benefit would come from such a movement. “If they are in a hurry to launch a civil disobedience movement, let them fulfill their desire, but they will gain nothing from it. These actions have only harmed the country and its people,” he said, adding that overseas Pakistanis send money to their loved ones, not to the government.
In response to rumors, he also denied claims that the government had offered PTI any deal for the release of Imran Khan, stating, “It is incorrect to say that the government offered PTI a deal for the release of Imran Khan.”
