Ramadan Fasting Duration Varies Across the Globe

During the holy month of Ramadan, the duration of fasting varies across different regions of the world due to their geographical location. In some areas, fasting hours are longer, while in others, they are shorter.
In the northernmost parts of Europe, especially the Scandinavian countries such as Norway, Finland, and Sweden, the fasting duration can extend up to 20 and a half hours this year. Similarly, in regions like Alaska, Greenland, and Iceland, fasting hours will also be around 20 hours.
On the other hand, countries closer to the South Pole will experience the shortest fasting hours. In places like Brasília (Brazil) and Zimbabwe, fasting hours will be around 12 to 13 hours. Similarly, countries like South Africa, Paraguay, and Uruguay will have fasting durations ranging between 11 to 12 hours.
This variation in fasting duration highlights how geography can influence the daily routine during Ramadan.
