Rahmat Saleh Baloch Criticizes Government Policies, Supports Gwadar APDM Protest

Quetta:The central leader of the National Party and Deputy Parliamentary Leader of Balochistan Assembly, Rahmat Saleh Baloch, has strongly criticized the provincial government’s unjust and oppressive policies while expressing his full support for the ongoing All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) protest in Gwadar. Baloch condemned the government’s incompetence and exploitative behavior, which he said has left the people of Balochistan in the worst economic crisis.

Baloch highlighted that restrictions on economic activities in Gwadar, Turbat, Panjgur, and other areas of the Makran Division are tantamount to open hostility against the local population. He pointed out a strange situation where vehicles from Gwadar are not allowed to enter Turbat, and similarly, vehicles from Panjgur are blocked from traveling to both Gwadar and Turbat. These restrictions have severely impacted the movement of people and their access to livelihood opportunities.

Condemning the harassment of citizens at the Telar checkpoint, Baloch described the incidents as cruel and inhumane. He stated that poor citizens, travelers, and vehicle owners are being unjustly harassed, and that such restrictions and humiliating behavior represent the worst example of governmental indifference and cruelty.

He emphasized that the people of Panjgur, Turbat, and Gwadar rely heavily on border trade for their livelihood, and restrictions on this trade have left thousands of families struggling for basic sustenance. Baloch denounced this as an example of severe state repression.

Additionally, he criticized the illegal trawling practices that have turned the sea from a source of livelihood into a void of deprivation for local fishermen. Under government patronage, powerful mafias are ruthlessly exploiting marine resources, leaving local fishermen unable to even provide a single meal for their children.

“This is not mere governmental negligence,” Baloch asserted, “but a direct assault on the rights of the people.” He wholeheartedly supported the ongoing Gwadar APDM protest, describing it as a legitimate expression of the public’s struggle for their rights.

Baloch appealed to all political parties, social organizations, and the people of Balochistan to unite and stand against these anti-people policies. He called on them to make the struggle for the protection of Balochistan’s resources and people’s rights a success. He demanded that the government immediately halt illegal trawling, end the harassment of citizens at checkpoints, and lift the restrictions on border trade to restore the rights of Balochistan’s people.

“If these demands are not met,” he warned, “public anger will become unbearable for the rulers.”
